How old does my child need to be?

We take children from 5 to 18 years

The age & size of your child will affect which instrument they are physically able to start learning. Read our admissions policy for more information.

Does my child need any prior experience?

No, we take complete beginners as well as pupils with prior experience

Do I need to provide an instrument for my child?

Yes - read about getting and instrument for more information. We also have a small number of instruments available for hire.

How do I pay for lessons?

Invoices are sent out termly by email and payment is by bank transfer.

How much do lessons cost?

Current fees as of Sept 2026 are £15.50 per 30 minute lesson.

There is also an enrollment fee and termly admin fee.

What if my child is too young for YAMM?

We thoroughly recommend Musical Bumps for high quality musical experiences for babies & young children.

What local music groups can my child join?

Our concerts and ensemble page also has information on music opportunities outside of lessons (scroll down).

My child wishes to stop lessons - what should I do?

Email friendsofyamm@outlook.com to let us know.

We require 6 weeks notice (half a term) for stopping lessons.

With less that 6 weeks notice, a family will still be charged.
